Again, to reiterate how important this is for us in APAC and how we should easily find customers wanting to jump to this.
Work with Samir on any opptys.

How to tell if a prospect is a good fit for Acropolis in 4.1?
Prospect with the following characteristics can be a good fit for Acropolis in 4.1:
1) Prospect is already using KVM with/without Nutanix today. 2) Prospect OK with using CentOS KVM based flavor from Nutanix (supported by Nutanix). 3) Prospect wants to use CentOS Linux or any other non-Red Hat flavor of Linux as guest OS (SLES, Ubuntu) 4) If prospect wants to use Windows as guest OS - we have tested W2K8 and Win7 and it works - and we are working with MS to get them to support it on our KVM. 5) The primary use case is developer test/dev environment. 6) Or the use case does not require compute HA (vSphere HA like functionality) for user VMs (e.g. Service Providers or basically any use case that meets the available functionality) 7) Prospect OK with not having a UI in the short term and OK with API/acli interface. 8) Prospect OK with not being able to run any agent/processes within the host OS as it will be locked down. 9) DR on KVM in 4.1 is not at the same functionality level as DR on ESXi/Hyper-V. If this is a must have, we need a deeper dive discussion with prospect to exactly understand the requirements to see if we can meet them in 4.1.
If all the above are met except 3) - Please let us know which guest OSes prospect wants to use.
We are currently working with many vendors of commercial OSes to get support on Nutanix KVM and this data will help us prioritize/expedite our efforts.
Prospects with the following characteristics may not be a good fit for Acropolis in 4.1: (Please reach out to the Acropolis team to get guidance)
1) For prospects NOT using KVM today and only using ESXi/Hyper-V always lead with Nutanix on ESXi/Hyper-V and then ONLY IF customer brings up KVM and wants to evaluate Nutanix on KVM - bring it up. Position Acropolis as our effort to improve current management interface of KVM on Nutanix platform for our install base.
2) If a prospect is looking at Nutanix + Acropolis to run RHEL guest OS VMs or Windows guest OS VMs - he *may not* be a good fit in the short term while we are working to get other vendors to support their guest OS on Nutanix KVM.
It would be good to assess prospect’s willingness to:
a) Either ask Red Hat to support RHEL OS on Nutanix KVM
or
b) Switch to Oracle Enterprise Linux (The bits are the same).
3) If a prospect is using RHEV and wants to use RHEV with Nutanix - Acropolis is NOT a good fit. If such a prospect is OK with Nutanix KVM on Nutanix blocks as long as his guest OS VMs running RHEL are supported by Red Hat - have him tell this to Red Hat. While we are working with RedHat? on this in parallel - it is always helpful if common customers ask their vendors to work together.
If not sure whether a prospect is a good fit or not - please collect the following information and reach out to the Acropolis team for guidance:
1) Prospect uses KVM today? What flavor (RHEL/RHEV/Other)? 2) Use case ? (Developer Test/Dev, IT (test/dev or production), Regional/Branch office, Service Provider - Enterprise public cloud or AWS style public cloud etc) 3) What kind of workloads are expected to run on Nutanix with KVM? e.g. web servers, build machines etc. 4) What kind of guest OSes are expected to run on Nutanix with KVM? 5) Are there any special requirements to integrate with existing environment (special networking or require agent install on host OS etc etc)? 6) Is UI a must have in the short term? 7) Is DR on KVM is a must have in the short term? If yes - is it possible to engage with engineering to understand their requirements? 8) What are the plans for use of openstack/docker (if any)? What distro (or open source)?
